Issues
surround HRC Turbo kits for NT Eclipse/Talon This is just a couple bits of info that anyone who has recently purchased or is considering purchasing a Hahn Racecraft turbo system for the 95+ Eclipse/Talon 420A motor. Basically, this addresses a few issues that Hahn could have better taken care of. 1. Mating their downpipe to the stock downpipe. After you cut the stock downpipe you'll notice that the pipe is not perfectly round. HRC sends a simple exhaust clamp to clamp their pipe over the Lower section the stock downpipe. I garantee it will leak no matter what just using this clamp. So, after installing with the clamp for proper fitment... remove the entire "new downpipe" clamped together in the proper positions and have a welding shop put a bead of weld around the joint. The guy that did mine did a killer job, then I just removed the clamp. The finished product is much better than the Hahn recomended attachement. 2. Save yourself the aggravation of using the HAHN supplied auxiliary fuel pump. It is an inferior piece and will caus headaches down the road. Instead I'd suggest spending a few extra bucks and buying a Walbro 255lph high pressure, high flow inline fuel pump and using that instead (all relay wiring should remain constant with the directions in the HAHN fuel system supplemental instructions). 3. Just a word of warning... the HAHN fuel pressure regulator needs an additional bracket to support it in the position layed out by HAHN in the instructions. However they don't supply a bracket. You can make it out of piece of metal strap with holes drilled in it to meet the bottom bolt hole in the 1st bracket. It's just extra support, and the placement is pretty self explanatory once you see how it fits together in the instructions. 4. When tuning the fuel pressure regulator, be sure to have an air fuel meter too. Hahn doesn't require you use one, but it's always better to be safe. Just because the cheap fuel pressure gauge they give you might tell you you're at the proper fuel pressure, without an air fuel meter (or jumptronix) you can't be sure if you are running lean under boost or not. |
